Samsung Galaxy S4 Review

Samsung Galaxy S4 Review

First Impressions

At first sight the new Galaxy S4 is a beauty due to its slick and smooth curves and bezels around the outer edge of the device. The Snow White version is especially beautiful because it features a futuristic glossy coat. The Octo core mobile also feature brushed metal like bezel around the rim of the device.

The Features.

Samsung advertised loads of unheard of and extreme features like eye tracking and gestures to fully immerse the user, but to be honest they are merely gimmicks. After a while these sensors only drain battery which makes the obsolete due to the never ending quest for battery power with the new flagship Samsung phone.
The new S4 has an impeccable display with a full HD 1080P display it has almost the maximum pixel density that the human eye can observe. The speaker is not as loud as one would wish it to be. Even with the Group Play feature it Is easily overpowered by most Bluetooth speakers.
The camera that is stuck to the rear of this device is truly insane! It out performs most low cost cameras on the market but the only drawback is the time needed to open the app and mostly makes for bad timing when you have a potential moment you wish to snap.

Performance

As I mentioned it lacks the ability to quickly open apps that is included by Samsung wish is a big negative and other devices leaves it in the dust like the new IPhone. The Gaming performance is extremely good it can handle full feature console games like GTA Vice City and FIFA 14 and runs butter smooth but at the cost of heat. Samsung made a good call on the staggering 8 Cores on the new Galaxy.
Battery

The performance of the battery is not impressive, it can barely last a full working day and although it only idles when I am at class by the time I get home it lost 70% of the charge. The included charger is different than aftermarket chargers because it has a higher voltage and can charger 100% in under 3 hours.
Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S4 still have a few software bugs, but it is expected with the open source feature of Android. Overall it is an extremely powerful device and it seems like Samsung has struck the perfect screen size and feel.

Logitech F540 Review

Logitech F540 Review

Unboxing

I ordered this product 2 years ago from our local supplier in South Africa and it was my first R1000+($100) pair of headphones. When the product arrived I was impressed with the packaging it had a lot of advertisements on the outer layer. When the box is opened the wireless headphone sits neatly and flush in a display case like shell which is extremely appealing and intriguing. When I first set up the product it required a look at the manual which is rarely the case when I first open a product because I am a IT student myself. My initial impressions of the product is that it is quiet an overall good looking and contained unit and the ear cups are engineered surprisingly good to fit the ear. The F540’s come with a wide variety of connectors for it acclaimed multipurpose use and it lacks a AUX which is strange because it has an aux input and it is surely a drawback.
Daily use

Although I only use this unit with a PC it is extremely useful due to its wireless features and enables me to walk around the house whilst listening to my favourite music and videos. The range is approximately 6 meters through walls. The F540’s has an awesome array of features including a tone warning the user when the battery is low.
Customer Service
I was extremely impressed with Logitech’s Customer service, when my headphone broke they sent me a new pair without needing to send the originals back and delivery was quick considering I am based in South Africa. All the required was for me to send them pictures of the product with a reference number in the picture.
The Mic

The microphone on the unit is rather good and the boom is made of a strong plastic that does not seed to wear and has a very slick look.
When the boom is lifted up it automatically mutes the microphone and gives and audible beep. This beep is handy but the same beep is also played through the microphone out for some reason which is a big drawback considering that your friends can hear every time your headphones are muted or runs out of battery.

Pro’s

  • Good sound quality
  • Range
  • Large number of different inputs and outputs
  •   Remote Volume control
  • Comfortable
  •  Helpful Customer Service
  • Great quality Microphone
  • Supports PC use through the PS3 USB cable and includes built in drivers for Windows 7 and 8
Con’s
  • Not all the cables are included for the inputs
  • Xbox Microphone lacks wireless connectivity
  • Microphone volume adjustment does not seem to work
  •  Lacks kicking bass
Verdict

It is a great buy for the gamer that wants to play on multiple platforms and does not have to worry about switching sources. Not recommended for PC gamers although it have supported drivers.
